SDI
Service Détecteurs & Instrumentation
Overview
Missions :
he missions of the Detectors and Instrumentation Department are the development, design, production and implementation of instrumental devices for the laboratory's experiments. Its purpose is to provide expertise in the development of detectors for physics experiments, their applications and their valorization. It also manages and holds the technical responsibility for the Nuclear and Subatomic Physics Instrumentation Platform (600 students/year, 20 experimental devices, 2 computer rooms).
Studies, developments, realizations, implementation and maintenance of instrumental assemblies :
- Studies, realizations, integrations and assemblies of instrumental assemblies
- Developments, simulations and characterizations of particle detectors
- Controls and commands, automatic safety devices
- Data acquisition and analysis
R&D: Studies and developments of new technologies in the field of instrumentation in general :
- Particle detection (photodetectors, semiconductor detectors, gas detectors)
- Control/commands and acquisition (embedded, wireless, IoT...)
- Materials (thermal, optical, thin films)
Support for experiment operations :
- Integration, testing, validation and on-site maintenance
- Packaging, transport and logistics
Organization :
The Detectors & Instrumentation Department is structured into 4 areas of expertise :
- Detector developments
- Studies - Assembly - Integration - Testing
- Control Command - Data Acquisition
- Chemistry - Materials - Thin Films
Team
The Detectors & Instrumentation Department (SDI) is composed of 18 staff members (including 2 fixed-term contracts)
