Safety is LSM responsibility. Internal operations, vehicles management and interfaces between experiments are LSM responsibility.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLSM Functional Org Chart\n\t\t\t\t<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lpsc-wordpress.in2p3.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/org-300x176.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"635\" height=\"373\" \/><\/p>\nAt the top of the chart, the <i>Experiment Point of Contact* (PoC)<\/i> is the single entry point on the experiment side.\n<ul>\n<li>Topics related to scientific aspects, contracts, and agreements are directed toward the Platform Director (Silvia Scorza).<\/li>\n<li>Topics related to technical requirements, shift scheduling and planning are directed toward the Operational Manager (Nadine Sauzet).\u2028These two roles interact closely, which is why they are shown with a bidirectional link.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\u00a0\nThe grey box represents the LSM. Within it:\n<ul>\n<li>The Operational Manager is the main interface for technical and operational matters with the experiments.<\/li>\n<li>The LSM Team Manager (Guillaume Warot) coordinates the LSM team and acts as a relay or backup when needed.<\/li>\n<li>Information received by one of these roles is shared internally within the LSM team, as indicated by the internal arrows.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\u00a0\nAt the bottom of the chart, the <i>Experiment Stakeholders** (onsite PoC)<\/i> represent the experiments themselves (their designated representatives onsite). For live communication during shift time about the daily planned activities, the LSM team manager is the point contact for <i>Experiment Stakeholders (onsite PoC)<\/i>. If needed, the LSM Team Manager will direct the <i>onsite PoC<\/i> towards the Operational Manager.\n\u00a0\nIn Summary:\n<ul>\n<li>Experiments (<i>PoC <\/i>and\/or <i>onsite PoC<\/i>) contact the Operational Manager for scheduling activities.<\/li>\n<li>Communication from the LSM back to the experiments goes through the <i>PoC\/onsite PoC<\/i>.<\/li>\n<li>Internally, the LSM ensures information circulates among the relevant people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-\n\u00a0\n<b>Definition:<\/b>\n<i>*Experiment Point of Contact (PoC)<\/i>\nThe Experiment Point of Contact is the designated representative of an experiment who serves as the official interface between the experiment and LSM. Each experiment can have more PoC according to the experiment subsystem and activities.\nThe Experiment Point of Contact exists to simplify communication, avoid parallel or conflicting messages, and ensure that information exchanged between the experiment and LSM is clear, reliable, and properly shared.\n\u00a0\n<i>**Experiment Stakeholder (onsite PoC)<\/i>\nAn Experiment Stakeholder is an individual onsite formally representing the interests of an experiment in its interactions with LSM.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLaboratory Visit\n\t\t\t\t<p>Access to the Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane (LSM), located within the Fr\u00e9jus Tunnel, is subject to strict safety and administrative procedures due to its location and the nature of the research conducted. Visits, whether scientific, educational, or institutional, must be planned in advance and approved by LSM management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To request a visit, individuals or groups are invited to contact the LSM directorate by email direction-lsm-l@lpsc.in2p3.fr,<\/strong> providing details on the purpose of the visit, the number of participants, and preferred dates. <br \/>Please note that visits to the underground laboratory may not be approved, as priority is currently given to ongoing operational and experimental activities.<\/p>\n<p>All visitors are required to comply with LSM&rsquo;s safety regulations and Code of Conduct. Depending on the type of visit, additional documentation or security clearance may be necessary.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCode of conduct\n\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lpsc-wordpress.in2p3.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/20240715-CodeofConduct_2024_signed.pdf\">Code of conduct<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The LSM Code of Conduct, adopted as of July 2024, applies to LSM management, staff,<\/p>\n<p>users, contractors, and visitors. It serves as a shared foundation to ensure that our<\/p>\n<p>scientific community remains welcoming, inclusive, and professional.<\/p>\n<p>The Code reminds us that:<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0<i>Collegial interactions are expected at all times, and people must be treated with respect<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>regardless of seniority or role. All LSM members are expected to adhere to the highest<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>ethical standards, promote a collaborative environment, and maintain professional<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>communication<\/i>.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>This applies equally to our internal exchanges, to the way we collaborate across teams,<\/p>\n<p>and to how we engage with external audiences, including the public and the media.<\/p>\n<p>As a multidisciplinary, international facility, LSM welcomes diverse viewpoints and<\/p>\n<p>scientific approaches. However, we must all remain vigilant about the tone and content<\/p>\n<p>of our communications, especially in contexts where responsibilities intersect. Mutual<\/p>\n<p>trust, transparency, and respect must remain the cornerstones of our dialogue, whether<\/p>\n<p>scientific, organizational, or public-facing.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All collaborators, whether or not they plan to be physically present at the LSM site, are<\/p>\n<p>expected to read, understand, and sign the Code of Conduct, and to return a signed<\/p>\n<p>copy to me as confirmation of their commitment.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStay at LSM\n\t\t\t\t<p>CNRS users are required to have a valid \u00ab\u00a0ordre de mission\u00a0\u00bb for shifts at LSM.<\/p>\n<p>Non-CNRS users are required to contact admin@lpsc.in2p3.fr three weeks before their shifts at LSM to start with the<br \/>admin procedure for visitor&rsquo;s declaration.<\/p>\n<p>The procedure for NON-CNRS users consists of sending to admin@lpsc.in2p3.fr the following:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Dates of the stay at LSM<br \/>&#8211; Scan of ID document<br \/>&#8211; The LPSC \u00ab\u00a0administrative information\u00a0\u00bb form enclosed below<br \/>&#8211; An \u00ab\u00a0ordre de mission\u00a0\u00bb or a certificate from their employer indicating that they are insured for the period of presence<br \/>at the LSM or the \u00ab\u00a0CNRS employer declaration\u00a0\u00bb form enclosed below.<\/p>\n<p>If the visitor returns at another time within the year or the following year, they can send to admin@lpsc.in2p3.fr only their<br \/>ordre de mission\/employer certificate\/employer declaration form for the period of presence at LSM.<\/p>\n<p>At the surface building, there is the option to book single rooms with private bathroom. A common kitchen space is<br \/>available as well as a dishwasher and a washing machine. Rooms can be booked by sending an email to booking-<br \/>lsm@lpsc.in2p3.fr. The cost of the room is 19EUR\/day. Accepted payment methods are cash, check and bank transfer.<br \/>Please inform the team of any early departure or cancellation by sending an email to booking-lsm@lpsc.in2p3.fr.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tUnderground Shift at LSM\n\t\t\t\t<p>Standard shift time are from Monday to Friday. Week-end shifts are not usually foreseen.<\/p>\n<p>8:30 leaving LSM surface building <br \/>12:00 arriving LSM surface building<\/p>\n<p>13:30 leaving LSM surface building <br \/>17:00 arriving LSM surface building<\/p>\n<p>Users in order to access to the surface building need to have a badge, Badge can be requested via email to booking- lsm@lpsc.in2p3.fr at least two weeks before the shift. Badge is nominative. <br \/>The access to the LSM underground facility is done in accordance with LSM regulations and current safety rules governing access to the tunnel. Users cannot drive themselves through the tunnel for accessing the underground laboratory. An authorized LSM driver will escort people to the underground laboratory. The possibility of training users to become LSM driver is available.<\/p>\n<p>LSM users should request shift time at LSM submitting their demand via email to the LSM operations director and the SUBR service manager.<\/p>\n<p>The onsite experiment point of contact is responsible of adding collaborators\/contractors on shifts on the LSM Agenda<\/p>\n<p>If not otherwise arranged, users are expected to arrive at the surface building at 8:25am <br \/>Lunch at the LSM underground facility must be arranged in advance.<\/p>\n<p>At the surface building, there is a shared office space available for users and a meeting room (about 20 people). Users can book the meeting room via the mailing list booking-lsm@lpsc.in2p3.fr<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tShipping to LSM\n\t\t\t\t<p>All shipments have to be addressed to:<\/p>\n<p>Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane <br \/>Carr\u00e9 Sciences 1125 route de Bardonn\u00e8che <br \/>73500 Modane <br \/>04 79 05 22 57<\/p>\n<p>The shipment label must report the experiment name and the onsite experiment point of contact. <br \/>Shipments have to be DDP (delivery duty paid)<\/p>\n<p>Before shipping anything to LSM, the LSM operations director and the SUBR service manager have to be contacted with details on shipments to agree on the shipment timeline and storage. <br \/>LSM will arrange for underground shipments.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tRadioactive Source\n\t\t\t\t<p><i>For bringing radioactive sources at LSM (both underground and surface), please contact Guillaume WAROT and Ali DASTGHEIBI-FARD at crp-lsm@lpsc.in2p3.fr with the source specs you would like to use at the underground LSM <\/i>facility.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLSM Experiment Server\n\t\t\t\t<p>Users can access the server and visitor declaration interface via a web browser, at the URL https:\/\/lpsc.in2p3.fr\/LSMac- cess <br \/>User can request: <br \/>\u2022 authorization to access an experiment server (\u00ab\u00a0Request LSM User Access\u00a0\u00bb) <br \/>\u2022 the addition of a server (\u00ab\u00a0Register a new server\u00a0\u00bb).<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCommunication\n\t\t\t\t<p>Users and LSM management must notify each other in writing of any significant event likely to have an impact (in particular a significant delay) on the smooth running of the experiment and\/or its continuation.<\/p>\n<p>The LSM user monthly meetings are a good opportunity to review the experimental schedule. A PI per experiment is expected to attend the LSM user monthly meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Any publication regarding the experiment have to report the following sentence in the acknowledgment \u00ab We would like to thank the Modane Underground Laboratory and its staff for support through underground space, logistical and tech- nical services.
