Quarks and gluons emissions from the LHC collisions result in the production of hadronic jets via "fragmentation" and "hadronization" processes due to the strong interaction (QCD). These jets are massively produced within the proton collisions and are relevant to all ATLAS analysis : either as backgroind, signal final state charecteristic or as objects of study.
The LPSC group is strongly involved in the experimental reconstruction of these objects and has contributed on several aspects :
- Development, maintainance and support for the jet software
- Sub-structure in high momentum regimes : jet reconstruction and identification of large radius jets, in particular in the case of boosted quark tops decays
- Development and maintainance of jet mass calibration techniques and software
- Development of reconstruction techniques for jet input constituents from calorimeter clusters and tracks
