An interesting candidate for physics beyond the standard model is supersymmetry, a symmetry which links bosons to fermions. It predicts new particles, the sparticles, which could be produced at the LHC, some of which could also solve the dark matter puzzle. One can search for gluinos and squarks, the superpartners of the gluons and quarks, by looking at final states containing lepton(s), jets and missing transverse momentum.

It is also possible to look for dark matter candidates produced directly at the LHC by looking for a photon coming from initial state radiation accompanied by large missing transverse momentum coming from the dark matter particles (monophoton analysis).
